EverythingStar is a free browser game. You can play it without signing in, and there is no newsletter and no advertising. This notice explains the information the game touches, and why. It is written for the first, browser-only release and will be updated as new modes and (optionally) accounts arrive.
Who is responsible
EverythingStar is published by HappyPaul55, who is the data controller for anything described below. You can contact the controller through happypaul55.com.
Playing without an account
You do not need an account to play. Right now there are no accounts at all:
- We do not ask for, store or share any personal information.
- We set no cookies of our own and use no analytics, trackers or advertising pixels.
- There is no server-side storage of your game or scores. Anything you do in a run stays in your browser for that session.
- Your game preferences are kept in your browser’s local storage. They never leave your device, and clearing your browser data removes them.
What the server stores
- The site is served by Cloudflare, and the API answers a simple health check. The usual technical details of a request (such as your IP address and browser information) are handled by Cloudflare as described below. There is no game data stored on the server yet.
The microphone (singing, karaoke)
Singing and karaoke are planned modes, and they are optional. When they arrive, if you choose a sung mode, your browser will ask for microphone access so your pitch can be compared with the music. The audio is analysed in your browser, frame by frame, and is never recorded, stored or sent anywhere: only the resulting note and score stay on your device, for that session. The microphone is released when you stop or leave the page. If you decline, you can still play without scoring.
Music and video
Some songs may be played from YouTube, which supplies the music and visuals. When a song is played that way, the video is embedded from YouTube, so YouTube (Google) may set cookies and see your IP address and the standard technical details of the request, under its own privacy policy. No YouTube data is requested to browse the rest of the site.
Third parties
- Cloudflare hosts the site and runs the small API.
- YouTube may supply the music and visuals for a song (as above).
Your choices
- Local data — clearing your browser’s storage removes your saved preferences.
- Contact — for anything else, reach the controller through happypaul55.com.
